At the same time, the MRI vacancy rate hit 17.4% in 2025, a near-record high according to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. The gap isn’t interest or opportunity. All too often, it’s training: imaging sites can only host so many trainees at once, and many programs leave students to find clinical placement on their own, or enroll them before one is secured.

About the Program and Partnership
About the Program and Partnership
DeVry University brings a century of institutional accreditation, national reach, and a curriculum built around AI literacy and skills development, increasingly critical as AI reshapes medical imaging. Edcetera brings Pulse Radiology Institute (PRI), which it acquired for its specialized MRI training and clinical-placement-first model and history of delivering outstanding student outcomes. The new program combines PRI’s effectiveness with DeVry University’s scale to address the nationwide shortage of licensed, job-ready MRI technologists.
The new MRI Technology Associate degree specialization is delivered in a hybrid format, with coursework completed entirely online and required clinical rotations completed in person. Students are deployed to their clinical partner during their third semester. It is currently pending American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) accreditation approval.
